Chrysalis 2017

Chrysalis, the annual youth fest of Delhi Public School Ruby Park, Kolkata, was held on 19th August 2017 in the school premises. Ten schools including the host team participated in this much-awaited interschool event which entered its 6th year.

The fest was initiated by Smt. Anusree Ghose, Principal, DPS Ruby Park, who stressed upon providing opportunities to students for their overall development. She also emphasized the need to develop their expertise and hone their skills in various fields that interested them. The purpose was to teach them beneficial lessons in planning, organizing and working effectively like a team.

Gripping events like In ‘quiz’ition (quiz), Picture Perfect (photography), Slam Dunk (basketball), Kick-Off (football), Smash (table tennis), Cerebral Conundrum (debate), The Tuggernauts (tug-of-war), ‘Ad’versaries (ad spoof), Let’s Make Money (trading event), and Allegro (western band) kept around 700 participants and volunteers constantly on their toes

Gracing the occasion as judges were eminent personalities from various walks of life. The Guests of Honour for the opening ceremony included Zonal HeadRMD East, Times of India, Shri Priya Ranjan Bakshi, Shri S.V. Raman, former Programme Director of Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata, Smt.Sujata Sen, the CEO of Hope Foundation and ACP Bhavna Gupta IPS. While Shri S.V. Raman was the chairperson for the English debate, ‘Cerebral Conundrum’, Smt. Sujata Sen and ACP Bhavna Gupta were the judges for the event.

Stalwarts like Shyamasree Sen from the ad world, eminent photographers Rajesh Gupta and Vivek Das, and music aficionado Samarjit Guha were present as judges for ‘Ad’versaries, Picture Perfect and Allegro respectively.

Renowned quizmaster Rajib Sanyal conducted ‘In ‘quiz’ition’, the quiz programme of the day.

The participating schools, apart from the host school, were Mahadevi Birla World Academy, South Point High School, South City International School, The Heritage School, Abhinav Bharti High School, Birla Bharati School, Apeejay School Salt Lake, Future Campus School and The Future Foundation School.

Organising an event of such magnitude encompasses hard work and dedication, by the students as well as their mentors. Such a platform inculcates confidence in young, ambitious minds and imparts invaluable life skills through fun and frolic.

For the first time this year, the fest was organized in association with Times NIE and like the previous years, it was a grand success. It provided a great platform for the students to showcase both their talents and leadership qualities and helped motivate the young minds to ‘Rise from Within’.

‘Cerebral Conundrum’, the Inter-School debate, saw The Heritage School emerge as the victors followed by Delhi Public School Ruby Park. Allegro, the music event, was won by Delhi Public School Ruby Park. The event on photography, Picture Perfect, was won by South City International School. Slamdunk, the basketball event saw Delhi Public School Ruby Park emerge victorious in both the boys’ and girls’ categories and in Kick-Off, the interschool football for boys, Delhi Public School Ruby Park took away the trophy. In Smash, Table tennis for boys, Delhi Public School Ruby Park took the first prize while Mahadevi Birla World Academy won the event for girls. Tug of war for both boys and girls was won by Delhi Public School Ruby Park. In ‘Quiz’ition, the inter-school Quiz, Delhi Public School Ruby Park, emerged victorious. In ‘Ad’versaries, the Ad spoof event, The Heritage School was the winner. In ‘Let’s make Money’, an event on trading simulation, Mahadevi Birla World Academy emerged winners.

Delhi Public School Ruby Park won the trophy for overall champions while Mahadevi Birla World Academy emerged as runner-up.
